The DHST is one of the two divisions that constitute the International Union of History and Philosophy of Science and Technology (IUHPST), the other being the Division of Logic, Methodology, and Philosophy of Science and Technology (DLMPST).
The IUHPST is one of the unions belonging to the International Science Council (ISC). As the world’s leading non-governmental organization in the field of science, ISC promotes congresses, publications, and other initiatives designed to facilitate international exchanges and understanding. The IUHPST joined the precursor to the ISC already in 1947.
The DHST organizes quadrennial International Congresses of History of Science and Technology.
Financial support for the DHST comes from the subscriptions of its Ordinary Members that represent as many countries. Between Congresses, the DHST’s scholarly work is conducted mainly through its Commissions and Sections.
