The DHST is the Division for the History of Science and Technology (IUHPST). It was originally founded in 1947 as the International Union of History of Science under the auspices of UNESCO to become a member of then ICSU (International Council of Science Unions), today knows as ISC. Its precursor was the “International Academy of the History of Science” which had been founded in 1927. In 1955, the Union became a Division together with the Division for Logic, Methodology and Philosophy of Science under a newly founded Union for the History and Philosophy of Science.
